Producers often leave a fairly consistent, identifiable mark across the songs they happen to work on, whether a particular approach to reverb, rhythm or vocal treatment, that becomes genuinely recognisable once a listener starts paying real attention to it, a signature that becomes unmistakable once a listener knows roughly what to listen for.
Comparing several songs by the same producer, across different artists and even different genres, is a genuinely useful way to train this particular ear, since shared production choices become considerably clearer once heard properly side by side in sequence, choices that would otherwise blend invisibly into the overall sound of a finished track.
