A well chosen prop can carry meaning that reaches far beyond its own literal function, becoming a genuine visual symbol that reinforces a song's central theme without ever requiring any explanatory text or spoken dialogue to spell that meaning out directly for the viewer, a symbol doing quiet narrative work that dialogue would only make obvious.
Repetition strengthens this particular effect considerably, and an object appearing at several key moments throughout a video gradually accumulates real significance, so that its very final appearance can feel noticeably weightier than its first, more incidental one earlier on in the piece, so that its return late in the video carries real, earned weight.
Simplicity again proves genuinely valuable here, and a single, clearly readable prop tends to communicate considerably more effectively than several competing symbolic objects would, which can otherwise dilute focus rather than sharpen it across the whole length of the video, a lesson in restraint that applies just as much to props as to editing.
